Boa project, kind of...

Amp Apr 27, 2011 09:22 PM

I'm working on a new project that is designed to improve shipping our animals. I'm looking for accurate statistics on shipping. If you can help me out by providing answers to the following questions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

How many packages have you shipped overnight using fed-ex in each of the last 3 years?
How many arrived on time?

If you can help further, I'd appreciate a 5 minute phone call to get your thoughts about what I'm working on. Please email me your contact info and I will call on a weekend. Best of luck to all with your 2011 season.

Thanks in advance,
Anthony-

AMP -- I have shipped at least 30-50 Boas within the last couple of years, thru Fedex . The only ones that have arrived late were ones that were "out of town " deliveries , and also one to an Army base where the zip code was given to me incorrectly - but it was eventually received. All in all they have been a good experience for me . I have figured that thru the many uses that I've made , I am bound to lose an animal thru shipping every now and then ( so far not yet though), but that's the chance that we have to take. All of the succesful deliveries make up for it in the end.
>>>> When shipping , make sure that you confirm the address to the buyer (letter for letter / number for number) . There have been a few times for me that the buyer typed the address numbers in the wrong order by accident, or they have just moved, and given me the wrong addy / zip code . I always sned them an email back asking them to look at the address that they have given me to make sure that it is 100% correct.

In the last two years I've sent over 200 packages via Fedex. All but only few have arrived on time as planned. Exceptions being...

Several arrived same day but later than planned due to weather conditions slowing down the pipeline.

A small few, whoops delivered after predicted time - refunded.

1 stuck in Memphis and not delivered until following day - refunded.

IMO Fedex is very good at getting the packages there on time as long as address is correct and no weather delays. Their guaranteed on time arrival is not missed often due to them.

I am quite anal about my shipping and so far ALL have arrived safe and sound. Things I always check.....

Temps - safe for the shipping day, arrival day AND the following day just in case the package gets delayed. Minimum 40 degrees night time lows. Departure, arrival and main sort (Memphis) locations.

Always, Always, ALWAYS have the customer confirm the address. NEVER trust the one paypal provides. One customer I had confirm address had moved twice since the one in paypal.

Whenever possible, use the hold at fedex location option. Will get there early and be inside a business until picked up and can save expense on residential deliveries.

Packed well with heat packs as required!!
