superworms....already addicted?

velcro Sep 29, 2003 09:38 AM

Saturday we tried giving our 5 month old beardie superworms for the first time. It took him a couple of minutes preying them before he gobbled them both down. Now, it has been trying to get him to eat crix. He ate a few saturday night and none yesterday. My son called me a little while ago and said that he pooped and drank some water and then ate a couple of crix. Is it possible for him to get the superworm taste and immediately not want crix anymore?

It is possible that he is holding out for a few supers, they are a favorite for most beardies. I also notice this as well once in a while. It could be that he wants more, and could possible be that supers are a more filling food then crickets, and the beardie is not as hungry the next day. They must be filling for them. On the days I feed supers I always feed them along with the crickets, not supers one day, and crix the next. Try a few crickets, and a super next time you offer them it may help a bit.

always feeding supers after crix. Kiana only gets supers after she's eaten plenty of crickets. I know she'll only eat crix when she's hungry, but she'll eat supers every chance she gets.

Sort of like my kids and ice cream. :P
