Female agression?

Hefe Sep 29, 2003 10:04 AM

I have 3 females in a 40 gal breeder tank and one of them bites at the other ones. I saw her do this when one tried to go into the same hide as her. She bit her right on the head and the one that was bitten ran away. Anyone else have this happen? I am 95% sure its a female, as the 3 I have toghether all look the same.

Thank you.

Yes I've had this happen. Sometimes one female will become dominant and the others learn to leave her alone. When this has happened to me, I take the 'bully' out of the group enclosure. Oftentimes they are very sweet with people; there doesn't seem to be any correlation there.

If you plan to keep her in with the other two, add a second feeding dish that isn't visible from the first one. That way you know they all have access to food. Be sure they have access to water and hides. Keep an eye on the others just in case and be prepared to act if they start to lose weight.
