Question about blood.

jondrawdy May 04, 2011 11:04 AM

So i just received 3 almost breeder fems from someone local. All seem in good health. This one in paticular has a odd maybe "dinker" worthy pattern, but that's another post all together.

Anyway, when I got her she was in shed. Two days later she had an ok shed, but had some stuck pieces. The next day I noticed some urate type liquid in the corner of her tub with some red spoting in it. maybe the size of a dime. ive inspected the snake well and see no sign of removed skin or scratches. I've just never had this occur before.

Just wondering if anyone may know what it is, or if it's worth worrying about at all. May be worthy to note that she is around 1100grams and is very energetic. She has also not eaten since I've had her, though I have not attempted yet.

Thanks in advance guys.

If she hasn't just been copulating then the blood is worrisome.

Since she has a somewhat stuck shed, she is too dry. Very low humidity can cause the bleeding in the lungs. That could be the source of the blood.

Even if it isn't, you need to raise the humidity. There are lots of ways to do this, but I use large water containers that they can soak in; I use cypress mulch and dump the water dish into the front of the tray which raises the humidity.
