a few more floridana

DMong May 06, 2011 02:34 PM

A very green/yellow 2009 female. She started out life being a very dark brown and beige for cryin' out loud!. Now's she's the little green monster!..LOL!

another more bronze/gold colored 2009 female

A very vividly-colored 2009 male that will certainly look similar to his very "high-yellow" father. The father looked VERY similar at this age, and this youngster still has two more years of coloring up to do. His inner-bands will surely lighten and speckle up more as he matures. He is a bit thin in this pic, but only because he refuses to eat lately due to being introduced to some of the younger females. When I look at their hatchling pics, it is hard to believe they are the same snakes..

Each one is a little different, yet each one is a screamer! That female looks like she's either very plump, or gravid already?

Thanks Jorge!. Yes, I certainly agree. They are all a bit different from each other, and some more so than others, yet all very impressive in their own way. I really love the diverse phenotypes, as this will make interesting breeding combinations.

Both of those particular females have not shown much interest so far, but I think things will turn around here very shortly. The green female has always been an extremely stocky individual, and I have fed them a few more times since introducing a male last, and I think they are both starting to swell with ovulation just recently. I am going to let them poop their last meal out and introduce them to a male again tomorrow and see how things go. As you know most of my collection breeds later here than some others do. My milks always just get started well into May, and even into June for a few of the ghosts..LOL!

He really is. All of them are awesome, and that greenish one is a trip to look at as well.

Your brooks were the biggest influence on me getting into them. Thanks for the eye candy bro!!

Amen to all that Billy, I'm really glad you like them, and that they inspired you to score that nice Love line hypo and the sweet Jelly from Don. That is great man!

I know, that freakin vivid green gal is insane for sure!

DMong May 06, 2011 10:17 PM

Thanks John!, I'm glad you like that girl too. She is truly one of my very favorites as well to be quite honest. She is even a more intense green than the photo portrays. I don't EVER recall seeing a floridana anywhere NEAR as intense green as she is......EVER!

I would love to get an intense green line of these going along with some of the other phenotypes..LOL!

.....can't wait!!

Things like that keep it interesting huh Doug?
It would be cool if you would line breed for that look.....

I had a killer pair of striped hypo Floridana years ago that I wanted to line breed for, but never got the chance.......

They sure do. And I definitely want to get some more intense greens going, but I don't have another one quite like her to pair up, so I will have to hope one or two pop up from one of the breedings at some point from any one of them. The mother to her is fairly close, so maybe she will produce another one or two like her daughter..LOL!

"I had a killer pair of striped hypo Floridana years ago that I wanted to line breed for, but never got the chance"

Yeah, that IS an outstanding animal!. That's too bad you got rid of it prior to producing any more. Did the person who got it from you ever pursue line breeding for more like that?

Doug....I didn't get rid of it.....it died when my snake room A/C quit working in the Summer of 2006......along with many of my animals.......It will never happen again though...I made sure of it with my current collection and herp room.....

Holy smokes!,....sorry to hear about that happening!. And sorry I brought it up too, but it sure is a good thing you took extra measures to prevent a similar catastrophe from ever happening again.

I can only imagine what that would feel like...geeez!..

Doug,
Don't know if you know it or not. But the 10th Commandment is Thou Shall not Covet!!!! Well, it's not nice to lead a Minister into Sin!!!!! Between your Brooks and Billy's Northern Pines I have a lot of forgiveness to ask for. At least I didn't drool on my keyboard like I did with Billy's Pines!!!! There is, however, a pool of drool on the floor!!!! Ya gotta have mercy!!! PLEASE!!!

Pat

DMong May 06, 2011 10:22 PM

HAHAAA!!,..too funny Pat!

Thou is sorry!..

Hey, did you get my PM from a couple days ago?, I don't know if you have it set-up or turned off. But if not, give me a shout from my website contact or email from there.

cheers, ~Doug

Those are all very nice, Doug! Will the reddish color disappear with age?

DMong May 06, 2011 10:48 PM

Thanks Ross!....

Yes, the red coloration is nowhere near as intense as when they are hatched, and it generally equates to substantial yellows as they mature. But some definitely keep a very light peachy/orange wash on the sides, etc...
