>>Beautiful animal, Jeff! How old is he/she?

>>> something you don't see everyday-Epicrates c. chrysogaster
>>Did they move chrysogaster under cenchria? I thought chrysogaster was a full species in its own right...but then these arrangements do seems to change.

>>Thanks for sharing picts, again a great-looking snake!

Hey Cliff,
You're right, the cenhria complex was completely re-arranged.
The "c." above, however, refers to "chrysogaster." Jeff's snake
is an E. chrysogaster chrysogaster. There are two other sub-species of E. chrysogaster. At least that's how it is today.
So when are you going to get an insular rainbow?

Thanks,
Ed
So Cliff, does that mean you are currenly renting? Im asking just because I wonder how you have worked things out with your landlord etc?????

Ok, thanks Cliff, you've already answered all I was really wondering about. I don't guess we need your physical address and name of the complex, lol, just joking bud.
I was just asking for my future reference as I am debating telling my future landlords about my snakes/business upfront and hoping they will allow me to live in their place still, or just keeping it on the DL as I have done in the past. I'm always told, its easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission, right???

Probably not even worth 2 cents, but since I've been a landlord as well as a tenant, I'll offer my opinion. I see no reason to tell the landlord anything unless it is to clarify or change something in the lease. And no reason to be specific unless you have to be. (Ie, start with "Can I own small animals in locked cages?" as opposed to "Can I have boas and pythons?"
If the landlord does have a beef with you owning snakes, I would invite him/her over and show him/her your set up so that he/she can see in person what snake keeping entails.
Just be prepared for a worst case scenario. I think a lot of snake owners don't realize (and understandably so) that they might be violating a LOCAL ordinance. Many municipalities have incredibly stupid laws when it pertains to "constricting snakes."
So even if the landlord can't nail you on a lease violation, if there are stupid local laws, he might be able to nail you on that.
Irrational snake fear really sucks.
I am also a renter, and it can be difficult to find a landlord who will work with you. My old one said I could have the snakes, but then one day changed her mind and made up this BS story and said I had to go or the snakes had to go.... so I left.
When I moved to the place I'm at now, I made sure that "tenant may keep caged reptiles" was written in on the lease. That way they cannot kick me out solely based on the snakes.
So yeah, as long as they know you have "reptiles" and are willing to write them in on the lease, you shouldn't have a problem. Nobody needs to specify the species or quantity, lol.

Just curious, what was the BS story the landlord used? If there was nothing in the lease saying pets/snakes were not allowed, and in fact the landlord gave you explicit permission to have the snakes, then that's not kosher.
The story she made up was that the maintenance guy was afraid of them and didn't feel comfortable coming in my apt to do any repairs. I know this is BS because I knew the guy for quite a while, and he never had a problem with them.

Sounds like what the landlord did was illegal, regardless of whether the maintenance man was scared of snakes or not. A landlord can't break a lease because of a maintenance man's fears.
