Boa Health... URGENT!!!

Apep_Verita23 May 10, 2011 01:03 PM

So, it has been about a month since my hypo double het sunglow boa boy ate and today when we took him out to feed him or at least try to feed him he was shaking and could not seem to focus on anything, of course he did not eat again and when we placed him back in his home his inability to focus seems that much worse, he was looking around and running into some of his stuff in his home. We have had his temps at 85-90 degrees faren. during the day and around 80 at night, last night was the first night that my boas went below 80, they got to 60. But my girls have been ok, the boy on the other hand has seemed somewhat lethargic the past couple ov days.
Oh and no mites or any visible parasites...
I am freaked out, this is one of my babies.
Please help =(

without trying to think worse case, it could be he's frustrated from scents and breedings and things that females release that set off certain emotions...

Understandable, they are housed separately though, and feedings are generally done in a tupper ware container and all of our scaly kids have been good on that routine.
None of the other snakes in our collection have shown and sort of issues like this.

if in fact the scent of the female is whats causing this. and its not that he has a neurological disorder, he can smell the female via his tongue for wayssss away. you could keep them in different rooms and he can pick this up. all males do not handle this the same. you must understand that just like people are different, so are boas. call a vet.

True, and that is the plan, going to be tapping my resources, vet friends and such.

It could be the scent of a female as the other post said. How old is he?

Try feeding him in the enclosure as opposed to pulling him out. In the enclosure, he's comfortable.

Try feeding him in a paper bag or dark container. Feeding in a bag, there are no distractions.

quarantine and practice strict quarantine practices before doing anything else...then see a vet.
