Pyro Eggs; To Be Or Not To Be!

pyromaniac May 10, 2011 10:43 PM

Look how cute we were in late March; but nothing came of it. Phooey. Maybe the male Mazar used up his spunk mating earlier with the other female Dotz who produced the nice 7 egg clutch? Zunchara and Mazar have not produced squat. Oh, well, there is always next year, and they can both grow more in the meantime.

Dotz meanwhile has gone from a post-lay weight of 133 grams on April 25th to a sleek 236 grams as of yesterday. I have been feeding her every other day. Her eggs are incubating along quite nicely.

They are good looking snakes. But that's the spirit maybe next year try them first. Good luck with the seven.

Mazar and Zunchara not doing anything. They both are eating a lot lately, and are acting like mating season is over. Something still could happen with these two; she has not had a pre-lay shed but there are still a couple weeks left in this season, so I could get a pleasant surprise. One can always hope! LOL! She does not look gravid at all, just big and sleek.

Dotz full of pinks. She has exceeded her pre-mating weight and is looking great.

Soon she will be reunited with the other two. I think that Mazar's sperm may have got too warm by the time he got around to mating with Zunchara. She was in post brumation shed while he mated with Dotz, and by the time she was ready I think he had been too warm for the three weeks she was in blue. They live together as a trio for most of the year.

This is okay if I get one good batch of babies. I will probably keep them all, as I hate the thought of them going to strangers who may not care for them like I do.
