Do any of you guys see a long-term problem with feeding kings and milks a 50/50 mix of mice and chicks? Aside from the smell.

A variety of prey items is more beneficial to any captive animal.

I would take it a step further (if you can)...throw a rat into the mix as well.

Also, don't throw out those slugs!

LOL....great shots.....chicken feets....

yes...feed it all....slugs...I use them also, and actually the pyros eat them a few times, but the normal eating machine for eggs here is the hondos...the make actually ate a ball python slug a couple weeks ago...NOT a good idea....I do not know what went wrong, but what a mess....the shell was never noticed so I have to believe he ate it...but the entire box, furniture, bows, hides, etc etc was all covered in gooey yolk mess....I threw it all in the sink and had to scrub the tub with hot soapy water twice....then start over.....maybe too large?...

....anyways....rats,chicks,mice,hamsters of 4 varieties, Peromyscus, gerbils, african soft furreds......it all works....

Awesome. I've tried rats in the past for some of my milks, but shied away when one of my juve Pueblans decided that she would ONLY accept pinky rats. I was stuck feeding her piles (literally) of pinky rats each week, sometimes 10 at time. Finally, after about a year, I was able to switch her back to mice. Since then I've been leery, but maybe it's time to throw some more into the mix.
