gravid Black Pine question

EricBodrero May 11, 2011 08:09 PM

I have a gravid Black Pine who's eyes just cleared up from going blue, so she'll be doing her pre egg-laying shed in a couple of days. My questions is, do I continue to offer her food, or let her rest to throw the clutch? Thanks a lot!

If this is her pre-lay, don't offer food. I did that last year because I wasn't sure if she was gravid or not. Result was 5 good 3 slugs. Same thing happened to a python that ate after pre-lay, with those two clutches being the only ones I've had with multiple slugs. Not enough to conclude for sure but I'll never offer again!

Usually they won't eat anyway. The reason I offered these two food was because I wasn't positive that they were gravid. I expected them to refuse if gravid. Wasn't until the next feeding session that they refused and I started to anticipate eggs. From now on, I'll just skip a meal after a shed if they may be gravid, just in case it caused slugs.
