I got my pig back

Lovin2act May 13, 2011 11:59 AM

So after a several month fasting period, my 08 male Leucistic Southern Pine starting eating again at last! Gosh these food strikes stress me out! However, I think this one was different. You see he just hit the 5 foot mark and after being raised on f/t mice since he was a baby, I think he got a wiff of rat one day (when I was feeding my black milks) and decided he would not be eating mice any more. I kept trying and trying to get him to eat again this last month offering a jumbo mouse each week and then letting my black milk eat it after he refused it. Only problem was that I sold my black milk collection to get my first indigo recently, and my indigo is only on f/t mouse hoppers so he cant clean up after my leucy boy's meal refusals like my bigger black milks could.

So by lucky chance I acquired a 5.5 foot northern pine to bat clean up for my leucistic pine until my indigo gets bigger. Well low and behold I decided to try and thaw out a good sized rat just to see if my leucy would take it (knowing that my new northern would eat it up no prob) and holy crap my leucy went ape shat on the thing and pounded it down faster than I had ever seen him eat! And he took it while the lid of his feed box was open (he usually likes privacy before starting). This has gone on for 3 weeks straight now and I am super stoked! I dont know how he got it into his head that he was now a rat man (having never ever had one before), but holy crud muffins he is eating just as vigorous as my indigo does now! I am a happy dad to say the least and heres is hoping for some growth this next year! I would love for him to reach the 6 foot mark

Apologies if that post came off a tad juvenile

I am just really stoked that this boy is consistently eating again!

Don't blame you for the excitment and that's an informative account. Congrats!

My '08 has always been a on/off feeder. Rarely takes two meals in a row. He's probably only about 4 1/2 right now. I agree, it would sure be awesome to have a 6 footer like that.

btw, that snakes seems to be a favorite of most who are introduced to my collection. It's the one most likely to leave an impression.
