Chocolate YB xYB

scott_austin May 18, 2011 03:16 PM

First clutch of the year is out and all shed. Not exactly what I was planning for but I can't complain. It doesn't appear that I hit on anymore chocolate yb's but who knows if the ivory is carrying the chocolate gene or not? Maybe it's there, but all the white cancels it out? Who knows. At least it's a female and I'll be able to find out for sure in a couple of years. Clutch results ended up being 0.1 ivory 0.3 YB's and 1.0 normal.

Maybe after the ivory sheds you'll see some pattern indicating some Chocolate got in there? That would be cool She's a beaut.

....looks unlike any Ivory I've ever hatched from YB X YB or Ivory x YB.

That Ivory has soooo much more colour than those I've hatched.
Maybe it's the line of YB??
Or that Ivory is in fact a Chocolate as well.

Either way, congrats on the clutch.

Thanks for the commets fellas. The flash kinda took out some of the color on the ivory, but it still shows some of the shades of a darker color on her. I have seen quite a few ivories but have NEVER hatched my own. Hopefully she develops a little more color over time and I'll know for sure. It would be nice to wrote "white chocolate" on her tub!

Mind posting a picture of the chocolate YB parent? I saw some baby pictures last year but still can't say I have a great feel for what the chocolate YB combo should look like. I have a pastel YB whose mom is a chocolate and my lack of experience with that combo is further complicating my efforts to figure out if he is a pastel yb chocolate (probably not, just wishful thinking).

Here are a couple of pics for you Randy. The top pic is of the chocolate yb(top) and a chocolate pastel. Bottom pic is of the Chocolate yb (right) and his yb brother. When these two hatched they were very similar to each other, and only just a few months ago did the left animal start making me wonder whether or not he has chocolate in him. I don't believe he is anymore due to how much lighter he has become while his brother stayed darker.
Flash kinda ruined the pic and makes them much lighter than they actually are, but no flash was just to dark.
