It's been an eventful couple of weeks

georgio Sep 29, 2003 02:48 PM

Hi everyone, I've been off the forums for a while. I was in Hawaii for a week (was absolutely wonderful). I came back a week ago.

A few days ago a horrible thing happened. Pumpkin somehow jumped out of her cage. To make matters worse the garage door was open. I have been frantically looking everywhere for the last couple of days. Well, I found her this morning! She had crawled into a huge bush in my backyard (which I cut down trying to find her) and I think was starting to brumate. I am so happy today you don't even know.

On top of all that there was a glitch in my registration at school and I could not sign up for the classes I needed. Seeing as I'm trying to finish the entire Biological Sciences major in 1 year and have no room for error this was a very bad thing. Luckily I got it sorted out but now I have all my labs at horrible times (one goes until 10pm on Friday...yuck).

Monarch has seemed very depressed lately. He doesn't move around much and has been closing his eyes an unusual amount. I think I'm going to take him to a vet for a checkup although he may just be trying to sleep for winter.

Everyone else is doing wonderful. Casper has really blossomed. He is getting close to 400 grams and has a beautiful new pink beard. Not bad considering he was a scrawny 50 grams when I brought him home in May. Wizard, my new dragon from Satyrday is eating like a champ. He's a great dragon. Alien, Coral, Pyro, Citrus and Lava are all getting too big for their cages too, so it looks like my garage may get another overhaul. Luckily I know somebody who is in construction and oversees a lumberyard who said he would build me outdoor cages and stackable indoor cages for cost. Woohoo.

How's everyone else doing? Mattman how are the new pastels? Brandon how's the off season treating you? Any surprises for next year? Reiko, I talked to you over email but I still can't believe Carrick is a girl. Maybe her and Wizard may have to hook up next spring. Joel, Gem and Coke man are looking gorgeous...wow! CheriS I'm so glad the imports are doing well...maybe you have said it before but what are you plans with them? To all of those I missed and to all I don't know I hope all your dragons and future dragons are doing wonderful! (I'm in such a great mood after finding Pumpkin tee hee).

Peter

Thanks Reiko. Any word about the reptile show? I'm still not 100% sure but it looks like a go.

I would have freaked if any of mine got loose. I'm so happy you found her. What a relief that must be to have her back. God how did the neighbors miss that fluorescent dragon running in the yard. All your dragons are looking fantastic. Some of the nicest colors. All my guys are doing good too. Almost all of my adults are pretty much getting ready for sleep. I did happen to get a new hypo pastel. Not sure if you seen her yet, but I'll post a pic when she sheds. She's all cloudy now except for a nice yellow and orange head She has changed so much since I got her in such a short time. Reiko actually picked her out for me in California. She picked a nice little female that is called Reaya Other pastels are doing great too. The Dachiu dragon is starting to lighten up a bit showing more pastel colors then the vibrant colors he was when I first got him. Buddy will be Buddy and he still is the best in his mind. Getting to be a tough little male. Talk to you later glad to see ya around.

Mystical Dragons

Glad all your dragons are doing well. Pastels seem like they would be hard to picture. Most of my dragons go through times when they are dark and times when they are fired up. Pastels however seem to always stay looking their best (my girl's citrus and coral are like that...) which is not a beneficial trait you can get to come out on camera. I really like the look and it will be interesting to see if the pastel trait really is simple dominant/recessive. Keep us posted.

misplacing them for people, about a half dozen have lost them outside or inside the past month..... the good news is all have been found.... some weeks later, but all found.

Dragons are very territorial and will usually not stray far from home if they are the only dragon in the "neighborhood". Everyone might want to keep a wire mesh cricket keeper on hand if you lose them indoors or out, the crickets can not get out and the dragons will climb in :D and can't get out!

About the imports, most were promised to others or plans made for them prior to their arrival and as they reach a certain size I am emailing the next few people on the list to pick one. A few for reason can not get one at this time. Looks like there will be five left when the list is done at this point and those will be offered to others who are interested or some that wanted more than one. One was suppose to ship out today to New Mexico, but there are bad storms here from a tropical depression so I am holding shipping. A few will be picked up in Tampa when the expo is there and one little girl is making a long trip to Canada hand delivered

A few have already left for their new homes, parting with the first one was soooooooooo hard, they have been together and through so much together, but I had to finally let them start going. Grimdog got that one and it lowered my food bill for them in half LOL, we called him Piggy..... Grimdog calls him Tarzan and it FITS! He grew to be a huge baby, the biggest baby I have ever seen or had at 2 months. He weighted 48 grams when he left last week, I think he is over 65 Grams now... BIG BOY!

Glad they are being dispersed around...hopefully to conscientious breeders wanting to outcross their dragons. Not sure if your at liberty to tell but is the one going to New Mexico going to Sundial?

produce some fab babies, nice plump, healthy and bright eyed ones, I probably drool over their golds more than anyones.

They are some of the few breeders that really watch their breeding lines and I think their babies show the good results. Besides they are just genuinely nice people and will make him a great home.... plus he's promised a nice harem for the future..... what more could a nice little male beardie want in life in America
