Kingsnake Eggs

APellegrino May 19, 2011 09:30 PM

My cal king dropped 3 perfect eggs today,

I was wondering the following:

Incubation period, and when to cut the eggs
Humidity %
Temperatures, and if you can temperature sex them, at what temperatures.

Thanks in advance.

incubate them in the high 70s to low 80s. They are not very picky. Humidity 80-100% but again not very picky. Incubation is around 60 days, longer at cooler temps. Don't cut eggs open... let them hatch!

no, you can not temperature sex snake eggs. Just geckos turtles and crocs.

I actually cut open all my eggs after 2 days of pipping. To many snakes that were good did not get out.

I would advice using perlite as a substrate and not vermiculite. Perlite is easier to add water . Vermiculite needs the exact ratio of water where perlite is more forgiving. Also has better airflow.

You don't want the substrate to be wet.

Also make sure to use pure Perlite and not the stuff from Home Depot and Lowes with @MIRARACLE GROW additive.

Exactly!,.......I even made the mistake of grabbing a bag of that a long time ago. Got it home, and then noticed....WTF!!!!

Glad I did see the tiny "Miracle Gro" ad on the bag before I used the garbage.
