Identifying Super Salmon Jungles?

gheckbert May 21, 2011 12:28 PM

This was a Super salmon jungle DH ghost x Salmon DH ghost pairing. This is my first time identifying between poss super salmons and poss super salmon jungles.

Didn't think it would hurt to ask if anyone more experienced minded taking a look and presenting me with their opinions on some of my labels? You will not be held accountable for your opinion I'm just looking for someone with a keen eye to see if I am on the right track.

Under the litter pic, I provided a link to all the individual pictures.

Thanks in advance for your time.

This is the exact reason that I would not breed Jungles to aberrant pairings. Please take no offense - they all look really cool, but as you've said - you now have a dilema . And those babies can be sold, and people can (and likely will) call there new Boa that they buy from you a Jungle, even if its not , and there offspring will be mis-labeled, as well as the offsprings offspring . . . forever.

so no jungle to hypo breedings? it's pretty much proven that hypos (even non-super hypos)tend to throw aberrant patterns.

No offense taken at all, this was definitely taken into consideration when choosing the pairing. I don't regret my decision due to the awesome ghost jungles in the litter. I am honest with my customers giving them all the info available and have only labeled the animals Jungles that I am 100% sure about.

I was just looking for a more experienced breeders opinion on if I missed any Jungles

Thanks, Greg

After looking at your web page , and then looking at the mother , I don't know how you can label them all anything but possible Jungles . It appears that you have all of the Ghosts listed as definite Jungles ? That would be some terrific odds, but I'd sure have some doubts about it. I really don't think #3 is a Jungle, and some that you have listed as possibles, I think are -- but none of them would I say with certainty.

Patoquack -- Hypo Jungles are definitely harder to tell than non-Hypos . I have had several Hypo litters , and only thrown aberrancies from one litter, that were known to throw them . So, I say that it still has a small gamble, but not as you make it sound . Jungles x Aberrant Boas is a different story , and often times the babies are sold based on what the seller wants them to be.

I took a look at the single pics and I can see how you might be a little frustrated. I have a ghost who i assume is a jungle. She has the same patterns and the side medalions are just lines instead of actual medalions. Also, she came from a positive jungle mother, but she is still questionable. I think your holdback with the tail stripe is probably a jungle, there are just so few out there and no positive high expression jungle ghost so I just think its not a positive thing that jungles can even be identified as far as being mixed with the ghost morph. maybe not even compatible, just like there is only one anery jungle (Bill Kirby) that positively looks like a jungle, although it could have been a fluke and the anery and jungle gene are just not compatible.
