Shipping Snakes

akhanna May 23, 2011 04:30 PM

We'll be moving across the country and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get my 5 ball pythons from MN (minneapolis)to TX (Houston) safely. We curently have the last flight out of MN on a Friday evening. Does anyone ship reptiles on a Friday and deliver on Sat? Do you have to be a buisness or have approval to ship? Any tips (or step by step instructions!!!) would be appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance
Alok

You don't want to ship fri for sat arrival, I'm not even sure if you could.

So any suggestions on how to get this done? Don't know anyone up here that knows anything about snakes that I trust to ship them on the Monday.....

Saturday delivery is very risky. I used to overnight business documents for Saturday delivery all the time (with multiple carriers) and about 30% of time they wouldn't arrive until Monday. For documents no big deal, but for snakes it could kill them.

I would try to find someone you can trust to ship them out for you on Monday to arrive on Tuesday morning. I don't even like shipping on Thursday because if the shipment is delayed and doesn't make it on Friday then it won't be delivered until Monday.

As far as the actual shipping goes, I would also recommend shipyourreptiles.com. They also have the shipping supplies you will need and a video to make sure you get it right.

thanks!!! I don't know anyone on this end but I might be able to get the local herp shop in TX to allow me to deliver to them directly and board the snakes for a few days. I'd feel better than trusting someone on this end..

Call Delta Airlines. You can ship for arrival same day via Delta Dash.

Not sure how expensive, but look into Continental's quickpak. may be you could drop them off at the airport early. Pick em up at the airport when you arrive.

I'd be interested to know how it works out if you do it, or even look into it.
