time between clutches

Steve_5201 May 26, 2003 06:51 PM

Some of you may remember me saying last week that one of my female eastern box turtles laid eggs. Since she layed them so early in the season, and also because it stays warm here until October, I am hoping that she lays at least one more clutch of eggs. Does anyone know the approximate time female box turtles wait between laying clutches?

I know a couple who had a female eastern double. She laid the first clutch in April and then she laid another clutch 4 or 5 weeks later. I don't know the exact number of weeks but it's probably something like a 4-8 week period.

So, based on these figures, one could say that the time period bewtween clutches is approximately 3-4 weeks?

yes,but in saying that ,sometimes she will just lay, other times she will muck around digging nests but not laying for a week or more.I also have red eared sliders and they can lay at three week intervals and you can all but set your watch to them, hope you have a good seaaon,my old girl is sleeping soundly for the winter over here at the moment.
