HELP HELP MY COLLARED IS BLEEDING

ZippoBSquared Sep 29, 2003 04:17 PM

I threw some crickets in my tank today, and my female and male went after the same one. The female got it first, then the male tried to get it. He actually bit her head. He wouldn't let go. I had to smack him with my hand.

I have my female separate in a 10 gallon tank, i gave her heat, but she keeps bleeding. WHAT DO I DO? FOR THE TANK? AND FOR HER?

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

You should probably just apply pressure to the area or get her to a vet right away. After it stops bleeding put a teeny bit of neosporin on.

with warm water and wash her head , get it cleaned even if ya use alittle soapy water. My male bite my female 3 weeks ago, I cleaned her up, and I usually use provodine, its an iodine solution mixed with some water. But atleast clean it with warm soapy water, then use Neosporin ointment, OR any antibiotic ointment. If you have her seperate in a 10 gallon tank, use paper towels, or even newspaper in the bottom until shes healed up abit !. Apply that ointment a couple times a day till better. She should be okay. Hope all works out okay for you, let us know, Eve

Be sure not to use an ointment with steroids in it, like cortisone cream, etc. I know that sounds a little silly, but I was just talking to someone whose dog just a puncture wound. It swelled up so they thought cortisone cream would bring down the swelling, instead they got a very expensive vet bill!

what does cortisone do?

It is a steroid, very useful for reducing inflammation in UNbroken skin. If a topical ointment with cortisone gets in the bloodstream it can mess up all kinds of stuff.
