2010 Season: Ends with a.... WHAAAA?!?!

0PARADOX0 May 25, 2011 04:00 PM

My last pair to be introduced on Sept 21, one month and 2 days after all of the others dropped last night, one month and 6 days after my first litter was born. It consisted of a Frank Martin Orangasm TH Moonglow breeder female ( Thanks Ryan DeCaro!!) to an unproven Scavone Motley DH Snow male ( thanks Guy Scavone II !!!!!)

I, of course, was hoping for the elusive Motley Snow or Moonglow... here are some pictures of what I did get out of the amazing litter. 34 live and healthy babies, 2 slugs, and one still ( a double albino siamese twin that didn't make it long after birth, r.i.p. lil guy, or guyS !!!)

Here are some shots....to be honest, some of these saddle patterns really don't make it easy to figure out what is what. A LOT of " jungle" looking patterns!!! I've never been a fan of that term, but the joined "links" on some of these are hard to describe otherwise. Let me know what you think!!! And, yes, those are moonglows in the middle!! No Snows at all tho. Weird.

* I wish I knew how to post multiple pics in the message body so I wouldn't have to make multiple posts, but I don't, so please excuse my reposts!!*

Enjoy and feel free to comment!!! Thanks for looking!!

Thanks Jeff!!! Ive said it to you and I'll never stop saying it, your Boaphiles made ALL the difference with breeding here!!! Thanks again for all of your help and input!!

Was looking at your last post, with the jungle hypos, and see a lot of those jungle saddles in this litter of mine! Would love to talk sometime on how that came out of this pairing since neither parent showed signs of that saddling?!?! I've got them on almost every morph variation that come out!! YIKES!!

Appreciate the compliment, especially coming from you!! You definitely have had your hands full as well Sir!! Hope to produce awesome stuff again this year with some other awesome projects!! Thanks again!!

Congratulations and please post more pics once they shed. That is one heck of a litter

0PARADOX0 May 25, 2011 04:31 PM

Thank you!! I will definitely be posting more pictures as soon as they are all out of shed and then some!!! There are really too many cool looking babies to post them all. Many of the coolest are not the albino morphs, which I find AWESOME!!! Check out my other pictures tho I've posted, there are some amazing looking morphs in there!! Thanks again for the comment!!!!

Like I said, I have never been a fan of the term "jungle". I have seen people try to scam extra money out of a boa at snake shows locally because a boa had one weird looking saddle.....but I can say that most of this entire litter had some kind of crazy saddles, some linking down the whole back!!??

Here is one of my favorite snakes in the litter tho, and I'm proud to say it's not even one of the crazy moonglows!!! Enjoy and feel free to comment!!!

That is def a Sunglow Motley poss het anery.. Now if the Jungle gene is involved then who knows what it is

0PARADOX0 May 25, 2011 04:27 PM

Okay, so as much as I would looooovvveeeeeee to say that I produced the World's FIRST Motley Moonglow, all I can say for certain, right now, is that this baby has got me stumped. No one has yet to produce the Motley Snow or Moonglow and many have spoken to not knowing if it would "even be able to be determined a Motley" because of all of the genetics going on and the fact there is nothing to compare it to at this time.

With all of that said, here is a pic of one of the Moonglows from this litter. Feel free to comment and put your thoughts out there. I AM NOT CLAIMING IT IS THE FIRST MOTLEY MOONGLOW!!!! ..... well, not yet , anyways

I think public opinion from the guys way more knowledgeable and experienced than me can come up with a valid explanation and title for this snake!!! I am willing to listen to all opinions tho!!!!

Thanks again for looking!!

Wow! Congrats James! What a day to not look at the forums! I've been working all day setting up my new snake building... Call me tomorrow - today for sure!
As far as the pic shows it's hard to call, hypo messes up motley so bad.
Without your female coming from a known jungle breeding it's such a long shot that there could be jungle in the mix, but some of the most obvious things about my jungle snow besides pattern, is the over all cleanness and color difference of the base color. The dorsal / latteral color change is very apparent also. So hard to capture in a pic but side by side with her snow siblings it is obvious.
Far as the motley gene, does it have any lateral striping?

Morgans Boas May 26, 2011 07:43 AM

That is a fantastic litter -- so many combos , all in one . However , that is not a Motley Moonglow . It does appear to be a Moonglow with an aberrant pattern , and very cool too . Congrats .

Congrats on such a nice diverse litter man

Great looking animals and a big congrats!

As far as determining your moonglows id say try taking a pic in the negative setting on your camera it should pick up all the hard to see pattern and give you a better idea!

Awesome as always, my friend!
HUGE congrats! What a great first season! I'm SCARED to see what you pop out next year!
You've worked really hard and you deserve it.
It was GREAT seeing you at the Orlando show this weekend.
I'm not sure how much anyone is going to be seeing you after all of your babies are eating and growing though! You're going to be a busy man!
You go, boy!

That's has got to be one of the ugliest litters I have ever seen in my life. Please send the Moonglows and the Sunglow Motley's ASAP so I can dispose of them properly

Once again, Congrats man!

0PARADOX0 May 27, 2011 12:09 AM

Here is a picture of the "other" moonglow in this litter. Many of you have asked me to post pix of it since the first one has been deemed a "jungle". This one definitely is not "normal" looking either. Feel free to comment , of course!! Thanks for looking.
Image

0PARADOX0 May 27, 2011 12:33 AM

here is one of the more "jungle" looking babies. Still not sure where the jungle trait even came from?! The TH girl is a Frank Martin Orangasm girl that had a litter before being bought by myself...in that litter NONE were jungle!! The Motley DH Snow was produced from a motley to a snow by Guy Scavone. He has assured me no jungle should be in his Motley.... well.... this pic, as do the others, sure offer proof the Jungle Gene is there.....

comment? ideas?

tat2darin May 27, 2011 02:27 AM

I can assure you as well there is no jungle gene at work within your litter. You should do some more research on the gene. If aberrant patterns were all there was to it, then every abby line, stripe line, harlequin, cyclone, inferno... just to name a few... could be labeled "jungle" but that's just not the way it works.
View it as Hypo, or Motley, it is there visually... or it is not...

Not to take anything away from this litter, there are some stunning animals in that goo!! Better build a BIG rack... Gonna be hard to let them go

cbmorphs May 27, 2011 07:41 AM

That's one VERY NICE assortment of Motleys, you have there!

3 or 4 years a go, you'd of hit the jack pot (so to speak) "in both the gene and money department"! Not saying your litter isn't spectacular because it is, just saying theres not as much glory in it as there was, way back then. We have the economy and certain people trying to pass certain new laws, to blame for that!!!
It's still a really gratifying feeling of accomplishment, producing a litter of this caliber and they can't take that away, sooo in they're faces with it!

I'd have a hard time letting both those Moonglow Motleys go. I'm pretty sure I'd have to keep one for myself as a contender for some other, very unique combinations yet to be discovered! and then copied! lol

Looks like you got some really nice aberrant patterned boas too!

Congrats on such a great looking Moonglow Motley litter!

Chaz,

Thanks for your message!! I have heard of your reputation for some time and actually just got a coral Sunglow Arabesque het Moonglow from Dave Savickey that was produced by you!!! Now that these moonglows are on the Earth, it looks like there will be some amazing projects to come from down here in Florida!!

I respect you opinion as well as most of the long time veterans. I am really trying to figure out how the patterns have turned out this way on this litter. I am posting pics of both parents in just a second to hopefully help with the mystery. I can assure that neither look jungle nor were ever described as such. If you have time, feel free to check them out.
Take care
