Reminiscing about the good old days...

CBI May 25, 2011 07:17 PM

This single post started it all for me... at least for Florida Kings. What a crazy feeling it must have been when Rainer first popped Jellies out in the first generation when breeding a T Neg to a PB! I hope one day I will produce something crazy and unexpected like this!!!!

i remember at daytona in '01 or '02 that rainer proposed to trade his peanut butter for some ghost brooks. i think it was one of his first ones, before the forum vote.

look at me now, lol!!! not a king in sight. oh well. i am happy for him that the trade didn't happen, and that it has done well for him.

Is this reminiscing, advertising, or a little of both? LOL.

Thanks for the good idea, ill have to ask Rainer if I can use this thread to advertise the Jellies that I will be selling this year on the CLASSIFIEDS. Good marketing idea! lol. At least people will be able to see the original story of the Jellies unfolding right in front of them.

This little guy came out of his egg last night and hasn't yet detached from his umbilical... guess he wasn't scared to come out lol!

Hope you guys like him, I sure do!

If it was for advertisement, I think it worked cuz I can tell you want one now. LOL! You should pick up a pair.

JKruse May 27, 2011 12:39 AM

ohhhh no thanks. I'm trying to cut down on morphs. I can just sense ass kissing from a mile away is all. LOL.

Went from reminiscing, to advertising, and now @ss kissing? LOL! You have one great imagination man, but I do have to thank you... as much as I do not want to... for helping me sell some jellies already because I had someone email me who has been on the fence about them and I used that thread as you suggested and they bought a pair and they are not even out of the egg yet! So thanks for the idea to use the original story behind them in advertising, i owe ya

If you're reminiscing about brooksi morphs, that places you at about age 20 - 25'ish......not that there's anything wrong with it, but that's very recent history for many of us older kids. =)

And don't we almost all post pics of gravid females and babies hatching for hopeful potential sales? LOL....indeed I'm outspoken and keep it as real as possible. I could care less what you do, really.....but you're just so obvious in how you do it......so much so that its actually kinda funny.

Enjoy those profits....morphs from mass-production snakes doesn't last long at all. Economics class/supply and demand. Easy squeezy stuff there young buck. Hopefully in 10 or 15 years you will appreciate just a real nice classic floridana for what it is, not just how it looks. At least you're not hybridizing....good work so far. =)

To me and to another newer breeder on this forum, who I look up to based on his morals and wisdom, it seems kinda sad that when you look at the big picture, people who like snakes are in the minority.People who like snakes enough to consider owning them is even a smaller percentage and yet people who own and actually breed snakes is a minute percentage of people. That being said, and also being restructured from words that came out of the users mouth who I talked to about this the other day, It is REALLY sad that you, myself, and a lot of other users on this forum are THOSE PEOPLE in the teeny minority, yet we bicker, fight, and argue about stupid things. Do you think a newbie looking at this forum really wants to get into snakes after seeing what snakes have turned some people into? No matter the type of snakes someone likes, if I can turn some kid who has only had hamsters in his/her life into a responsible snake owner, I did my job. I want to share the snakes that make me happy with others and that is why I post on this forum. I tried going to just posting pics but even that is backfiring on me, sadly. Tom Stevens and Zenny have stopped posting in the past year or so, why? Because they hate the BS on this forum. Everyone on here would like to see them come back on as regulars but that is now unlikely. If enough people are driven away from this forum, whether you agree now or not, it will become a more boring place. This hobby needs morph people, locality people, and hybridizers or the purists would not be happy, the people who want to try and "go big" and make a lot of money wouldn't be happy, the morph lovers would not be happy, and the newbies who see a neon orange hybrid would not be happy. To me it's about sharing snakes with other people and what better way than to have a forum to do it, let's not ruin this forum with stupid fights, WE ALL LOVE SNAKES! GEEEESH. I wont contribute to the decline of an already attacked hobby anymore,

Thanks

I completely agree with this, Jeremy. But I'm gonna expand on it a little.

Life is too short to be sweatin the small stuff. All of this in-fighting, (which is what this is) does not matter in the least in the grand sceme of things.

NO ONE, is guaranteed tomorrow. Life is a vapor. It comes and goes, and when it goes, it can literally go in an instant. Here are some details of a TRUE case investigation: One minute a woman is driving down the road on her way home from work...NOT texting, talking on her phone, or in any other way distracted. In an INSTANT, on oncoming vehicle swerves out into her lane (later determined to be a planned suicide), striking her head on at an estimated combined speed of approx 130 mph, resulting in a very horrific death to both persons. This happened IN AN INSTANT. The lives of the survivors, of both of the deceased were forever changed. Anything they may have been arguing about with friends, families or otherwise, NO LONGER MATTERS. Does no one else understand this?

Trust me when I say this...Don't sweat the small stuff...and don't take yourselves SO DAMN SERIOUS.

At the end of the day, we're all passionate about our beloved reptiles, and probably all are having to listen to the dumass co-worker make the occasional "only good snake is a dead one" remarks. You see, we ARE all in this together...almost exactly like a disfunctional family...only different (LOL). We ALL champion the cause, purpose, and importance of our reptiles. So why fight about it. And because I have made friends (and these friends know whom I'm referring to) on "both sides of the aisle", I try to stay out of the drama. Although, I really dislike it.

Not looking for a reply...just speaking my piece, as have so many other of my fellow reptile enthusiasts.

Stay safe.

Micah
