I know this is probably not the most interesting post for some of you who have snakes on their property. But i basically moved from a subdivision into the country. And i am loving it!
Yesterday i saw a black racer in my yard from my bathroom window. Needless to say i was estatic to see ANY snake in my backyard and ran down to catch it and gets some quick pics.
Then later that night I heard a noise under the house and I shned my flashlight under it and there was a armadillo...(I didn't know there were many armadillos this far north) and I got close enought to touch it. It wasn't afraid of me, or maybe the flashlight made it curious, anyway, cool creature.
So far i my backyerd has also produced deer, chipmunks, fence lizards, anoles, skinks, tree frogs and toads. Then I had one more...well, not in my backyard, but down the street..There was a racoon that been hit by a car on the side of the road. It was alive and just sitting in the hot sun in the open. So I called 911 for an officer to come out and take care of it and made my way to the store. So an hour later after returing from the market, I still see the raccon there. No law enforcement showed up. So since I had a handgun in the car I decided to put an end to its suffering. My tghinking is that is better than having it die slowely baking away in the sun. I just wish i would have done it earlier when i first passed by rather than rely on a sheriff or police response.
Anyway, that is life in the country. I guess I am learning how life should be.
But I yet have to see my first kingsnake in my backyeard. Can't wait for that to happen. It has just been extremely dry and hot since i moved in. So i am sure one will show up one day.

Does anyone interested in hybrids have, or know where I can get, detailed information on cross breeding kings with corns?
