My 08 male pyro came out of brumation along with his two mates in early February. He ate a few times in February then in March got all involved with mating and did not eat all of March. He resumed eating in early April. He ate a lot during April (except near the end when he shed) to early May, and now is in blue again. It appears once the females stop releasing pheromones the male begins to feed again. I am looking forward to this shed as he looked dingy and off color after the late April shed, not his usual handsome self. I wonder if mating somehow made him look dull and dingy.
As for how often the females can ovulate after so many sheds, one of mine produced 7 perfect eggs but the other one just shed, then stuffed herself on hoppers (not pre-lay shed behavior! LOL!) so I think I am just getting the one clutch this year.

Late March lock but nothing seems to have come of it. Oh, well, there is always next year. I think I may have screwed up the timing on this as she had a post brumation shed but he was not with her at the time because I was being a worry wort and keeping him separated so as to get him to eat. Next year I am not going to worry about him eating. He will eat when he is ready. I will leave him with his ladies throughout the spring season.
