Blood Albino Litter with a Twist!

Amanda_Burke May 29, 2011 12:05 PM

We got a few surprises in this Blood Albino litter yesterday! We bred two Hypos het Blood Albino that we produced a few years ago. In addition to to Blood Albino/Hypo Bloods that we hoped for (we didn't hit the odds on the Blood Sunglow), we got some Ghosts poss het Blood Albino and some Pewters poss het Albino. One of the Ghosts looks like a super, it is so light, it's almost white with lavender saddles and no black. Two of the Hypo bloods poss het Albino must also be supers because there isn't a stitch of black on them except for a tiny little mustache.

Here are a few pictures in the goo...

Last year we found out that the grandmother of these babies (a Blood) was het anery when she produced one in her litter, but I guess we forgot about it, because we certainly weren't expecting this! lol
Thanks for looking!

Would the anery be a central American strain of anery or a Colombian strain. My last question is does the anery c.a. And the anery Colombian are compatible? Or are you guys working with the type II anery? And last is it type II Colombian or C.A.

I'm so anery ignorant!! Sorry for the 20 questions....

Thank you kindly,

-Manny

Thanks Manny! It's sort of complicated because the odds were so not in our favor that we would produce these. Here is the breakdown in a nutshell:
The grandmother of these babies is a Blood that we produced from a het to het breeding many years ago. Evidently, she is het anery because the original Ron St. Pierre bloods were het anery. But, she came from a het to het breeding and we never got anery babies from that pair, so only one of her parents must have been het, and we just got lucky that she happened to be a het. And then, coincidentally, we happened to pair two of her offspring together that also turned out to be het. Mathematically, I don't even know what the odds of that are! lol
Since the anery gene in these babies originates from the original Ron St. Pierre bloods, they are the central american line of anery. HOWEVER, that line of anery IS compatible with the colombian anery line, which I believe was proven by Bill Kirby a few years ago. They most likely would not be compatible with the Type II anery, because I don't think anything else is compatible with Type II's.
Hope all is well with you!
