Update on old Miss Pink.

ShadyLady May 29, 2011 08:23 PM

I forgot to post an update on my old amel corn, Miss Pink. This is the one that weighed 1156 grams, pic in a post below. Well, she slugged out! Only six slugs, too. She's so fat I thought for sure she had a bunch in her.

Other corns so far have produced 20 from butter motley to amel motley het butter, 25 from multi-het to lavender motley, 12 from candy cane to amel motley het butter. Not a corn, but my black pine laid 15 eggs yesterday - woohoo!

Two more corns to go, plus a cal king.

I'm gonna hate myself when all these hatch!

Yeah, only six! I have palpated her fat belly several times.

I posted a pic of the gravid black pine on the pine/gopher forum. She looks like a deflated balloon right now, poor thing.

Old females tend to slug out more often. She might be best as a nice pet at this point. I must say she is beautiful. Looks very well taken care of.

Thanks, Mark. I hadn't planned to breed her, but since she went to all the trouble to go off feed / ovulate, etc., I did place a male with her. She always lays 6 to 10 slugs, every year, no matter what. So, I'm not really surprised, or disappointed.
