Bairds and Gulf Hammock...

Kevin Saunders May 29, 2011 11:36 PM

I just picked up a young pair of bairdi and wanted to show them off. They're still under a year old, but the female's got some color peeking through already.

The male has been in shed since I got him and I'm eagerly awaiting a good look at his coloration. Here's a shot of his dark, drab current state though.

Finally, a newer shot of my Gulf Hammock. I've got some enthusiastic eaters in my collection, but this guy might be the hungriest overall-he consistently prowls around looking for more after each meal, even with a lump in his belly.

Great stuff Kevin!.......nothing like having voracious feeders in the collection!..

BTW, did you get those bairdi from Jimmy D. by any chance?

Actually, no, these are from Vivid Reptiles bloodlines (2 different pairs). I've certainly got nothing against Jimmy's though. In fact, I've only had one pair of bairdi before and they were siblings to his breeders. That was years ago though so it's about time I added some more to my collection.

Very cool!, thanks for the low-down on them. Yes, Vivid has always had some sweet animals for sure!

The male just had a weird backward shed. He's been hanging out in his humid hide the last few days and today I noticed some shed skin stuck to the side. I got him out and sure enough damp patches of old skin were peeling off and sticking to my hand. It's weird because he never rubbed it loose around his face though. I basically had him shed the skin from his body in my hands which left him with a hood of old skin around his head that I helped him with. Here he is in his new skin.

Here's another shot of the female just because I like her best at this point.

Both are VERY nice Kevin!

Glad you noticed the other shed and it got removed promptly along with the last one.
