FORUM NOTICE: Hybrids and posting

PHFaust May 30, 2011 03:17 PM

We have a hybrid forum for an obvious reason. I will move discussions directly relating to the creation of hybrids there, however every single post that regards hybrids is not going to be moved. There will be hybrid discussions here on occasion, if you dont like them ignore it.

That being said, do you all think you can manage to get thru these discussions without resorting to childish name calling? I suspect if you all tried hard enough you could. We have had several hybrid break outs as of late and there have been no bans, so let's see if we all can step up and get beyond the childish behavior.

I challenge you all to get thru one month of forum behavior with out a single abuse complaint.

Does anyone interested in hybrids have, or know where I can get, detailed information on cross breeding kings with corns?

I knew you were doing some crosses, but I did not know you had such a personal interest!

I knew you were doing some crosses, but I did not know you had such a personal interest!

Actually the Gif is reference to a UFC matchup between TUF (The Ultimate Fighter show) between Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Michael Bisbing.

If you knew anything about these two fighters it reminds me a lot of the folks here on both sides of the hybrid debate.LOL!

You didn't mention the gif..Isn't that hillarious?

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT MAMMAL IN THE BALL???

BobS Jun 10, 2011 07:43 PM

Breed him to a Hamster so he can use this ball properly but he keeps eating them!

My attempt at Free Range Florida King.

DMong Jun 11, 2011 12:22 AM

Looks like a great "ball" python setup too...

Gosh, I can picture kids all over the country torturing the hell out of their pet rodents with those things. Kicking them around and such.

Actually I am the only one allowed to deal with this forum. I do not allow anyone else to touch it. Actually thinking on it, no one else wants near it, no clue why.

So thanks.

I know this wasn't directed at ME (I've been nice for years), but:
C'mon Cindy...You're taking all the fun out of the forum....DARN IT!!!
I used to enjoy reading other people's posts bashing each other on here!!!
I got some good laughs out of it in the past.....
Ok, ok....I know, I know....It's not MY forum, I don't own it, I don't regulate it, I don't moderate it, I don't dominate it.....I submit to it!!!
And I know I don't have a testosterone problem - I'm too old for THAT!!! I'm only NINE feet tall and only RUBBER bullet proof!!!
Aside from missing some funny posts - This should not affect me....I'm a peaceful, loving, respectful, fun loving creature......
And thanks for keeping it clean Cindy!!!

Cheers to all snakes...loaclity, hybrids, intergrades, unatural intergrades, boids, rats, kings, milks, ...all continents...here is to em all!

I love em all and I am just as passionate about locality specific snakes as I am about all others.

Too bad the animosity between all these distinctions..

Now heres a post I can agree with, Thanks for the sanity.

I have lots interests in THIS forum and ones like them because, for all intents and purposes, most keepers do not like snakes, I think they use snakes to carve out a nitche to be popular in.

Like pure this, or species that, or morph the other. What happened to the curiousity of What a SNAKE is, for being just a snake.

Why I said this about KS is, Sometimes you follow and sometimes you lead. In this case, KS should lead and promote what is healthy for the Hobby, nor follow and attempt to take advantage of seperation and isolation. These forums seperate into the smallest of little groups and isolate themselves. Then DIE a lonely small death.

Most of the forums are DEAD, some get so few hits, why are they there???????? KS folks, start leading and get these forums active again.

KS leaders, Jeff? and mods, husbandry is learned from watching the animal. Your animal is dying. How about leading.

We are all envolved in one Hobby. People thrive on controversy. By seperating, you take that away and people GET BORED and go elsewhere.

STOP WITH THE BOREDOM.

varanid Jun 09, 2011 11:07 AM

agreed...too many different forums that get no eyeballs or interactions outside of one narrow niche. How many species specific forums are there on this site nowdays? I remember the old days...monitors and tegus shared a forum...all pythons shared a forum...grumble grumble

And as for what a snake is? It's a snake! Irreducible and non-metaphorical and interesting!

It's very sad that so many people today don't even want to read books on snakes anymore. Now days they want to just click on photos and ogle at the colors without bothering to know the first thing about any of them.

Yep, internet pics and maybe a three paragraph care sheet at best.

Frank,

Feel free to email me directly with suggestions. I am open to implementing as many ideas as possible from our members. Things have changed here over the years and especially in the past year. Traffic has in fact increased. A change in site coordinator, moderation as well as taking advice from our members. I like constructive feedback, not just you are doing it wrong. So let's chat.

While I would love to not have to enforce keeping on topic, this specific forum dictates that if hybrid discussions come up, civility goes out the window. I personally keep hybrids, 2 of them. I like my hybrids. But hybrid discussions in this particular forum degrade. You know this as well as I do.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions. You can email me directly at phfaust@pethobbyist.com
