Question about Eggs

smitx Jun 01, 2011 04:12 PM

Let me say thank you in advance, I have learned so much from this forum.

This morning I woke up to my first clutch (Normal x Pastel) There were five good eggs and one slug.

I have a couple of quick questions. The eggs were laid on unprinted newspaper and were all stuck together. I tore the paper around the eggs and placed it all in the incubator. Anyone feel this is going to be a problem?

My second question, the eggs were very soft. More than I expected. Is this normal? The five good eggs had good size and color with nice bright veins under the light..

Thanks for any input.

Soft is what snake eggs are. Leathery kind of shell, not like a chicken egg.

The paper shouldn't bother them.

No problems here. The unprinted newsprint will be fine and ball eggs are always somewhat "leathery" and not hard like chicken eggs. Are these your first eggs?

Yea these are my first. It's been a long time coming. I purchased all my snakes as babies two years ago.

Thanks for the info.

Best of luck with your eggs.

What did you breed?

These eggs are from a male pastel to a normal. I also have a spider x pastel in the works.

Thanks for your input.
