DID HB1788 FOR TEXAS GET PASSED?

According to this it was signed on 5/21 effective immediately!

If I understand the situation, it passed the Legislature with a 2/3 majority, MEANING it's actually BETTER if the Gov DOESN'T sign it, because after 20 days it will take effect IMMEDIATELY. If he signs it, it goes into effect September 1st.

Worst-case, he vetoes it. I called in my support last week; don't know how the staffers register my soliloquy...probably just "some guy called supporting the bill."

yes, 2/3's with his sig (or no action within 20 days), it goes into effect immediately. His veto can be over ridden with 2/3'rds from both cong. and Sen. but it would have to go back again for a veto override vote which won't happen.

Don't forget, we are talking about a Governor that carries a gun to shoot snakes when he is jogging in 20 degree weather!

(I'm making reference to his shooting a coyote last winter and why he happened to be carrying a gun.)

I'm with him on that, I carry when I run too (of road biking or hiking, ect.)
