Uros can be annoying sometimes!!!

dlek00 May 26, 2003 07:18 PM

Well... I'm sitting here in my apartment while my female Egyptian is resting comfortably under my dresser... I usually let her run around for exercise and today was the one day I forgot to block the inch and a half inlet under my dresser off. So, Isabelle decided to explore it since she's never been under there before. The dresser is about a foot and a half deep, so it's basically impossible to get her out. I tried everything, however she got agitated and whipped her tail at me a few times while hissing, I've never seen her that way so it was not fun. Hopefully she'll come out eventually. Just wanted to vent my frustrations

Just wanted to share that I too have uros that run around and I have "plastic tape" along the bottom of closet doors, the refrigerator, the stove, the side of the freezer--all places they have "hidden" exploring. Luckily I found them each time--why they want to go there is beyond me. I had to turn my sofa upside down and cut a slit in the bottom to retrieve one who climbed in the sofa arm--I couldn't reach him and he couldn't get out.

BTW--I have four--all Saharans--two adult males (one yellow, one red) and two subadult females--both "red" (actually peach is a better description).

Good luck--I swear I'm going to make them wear bells. My husband wants to modify those belly button lights somehow so they'll blink to find them more easily.

I know the problem.....
I have a computer hutch that weighs about 500 lbs.
Have had them go under that before.
Now I just let out on my knee or the outside cage. In the outside cage they do seem to get that wild side to come out and do a little tail thrashing!!-only one will hiss occasionally.

I have 7 -6 Egyptians and 1 Green phase Moroccan juvenile

I really feel your pain...about 6 months ago I let Brutus go for his excercise and he found a small little crevice under the cabinet that holds my sink in the bathroom. He pitched the same fit b/c the little crevice was really small and he got scared and blew himself up and got stuck. I finally had to push him through the hole, hissing and whacking his tail the whole time, and then tear apart my cabinet and vinyl flooring to get him out...hopefully the landlord won't notice...

Or you could have been smart like us UF students and lured him out with some food!

Yeah, I tried that first, but the opening was only about 1 1/2 inches and it was also obstructed by a piece of the cabinet that overhangs in the front so he couldn't get out on his own even if he tried for days!
I just covered up the scratched linoleum with a rug so hopefully no one notices!!!
So what are you studying over there in G'ville?

Julie, I am studying (Business) Geography. Currently we are studying why a Denny's wasn't built at FSU. It seems that the company deemed the area too "low class" for their establishment. I have two uros, a kingsnake, and a parasitic roommate. For more info on how to be as bright as a UF student , email me at DeadFrog(at)Mail(dot)com. Or, you can just stop by for some hands on training. Transient students from FSU are required to have had their rabies shot and are also required to have been de-wormed.

P.S. The chop stops here. That is all.

Your business teacher is quite wrong. There was a Denny's across the street from FSU but it shut down about 3 months ago due to lack of business, not the "low class" neighborhood. The "low class" neighborhood of which your professor makes mention of is called Frenchtown and it is located near FSU. Frenchtowns history is why it is "low class." It was given to a French settler by Europe and never quite developed in the manor that it should. FSU was built here b/c it was cheap vaccant land and if you have studied any form of Florida Government you would know that FL will build wherever it is cheap. Sorry for all of the info, its just that is my department. I am a graduate student studying Urban and Regional Planning and I have my B.S. degree in Poli Sci with an emphasis on state and local governments. Apparently FSU students could find better things to do with there time besides go to Denny's.
I have 2 malis, a bearded dragon...no parasitic roommate...I live in my own house. Tell your professor to come visit us at FSU, he sounds like he needs to take a couple of courses on land development.
Julie
P.S. we saw who stopped your chop last year at Doak...is that what you were talking about??

HAHAHA

That is the funniest thing ever. I totally made up the Denny's thing. I swear.

I guess you could say that I am hoping to go into the private sector equivalent of "Urban and Regional Planning", so it's very cool to hear you are involved with that.

It's getting late (been a long day), I've run out of witty insults to direct at FSU, so I'm gonna pass out now. I used to go out with a girl from there, just so you know that I am kidding around. Should have stuck with my own kind, LOL. We have all 46 (unmutated) chromosomes here. OK I'm gonna stop I promise.

P.S. It's spelled m-a-n-n-e-r.
