Question on introducing...

piebaldpython Sep 29, 2003 07:46 PM

Hi All,

I had three female rats that accidentally got pregnant. This week I noticed it and put a male in. I hoped all would be well but there's been an aweful lot of screeching and fighting. Is all well or will the females kill the male?

I would never introduce a new animal to a new or pregnant mom. The results could be disastrous and are just not worth the risk.

If all animals have lived in a group they will be ok if left together during all stages of pregnancy and birthing.

Just my opinion.

Didn't make it back to the computer for a couple of days but the fighting has been subdued and the pups are still squeeking. I've also been throughing alot of various foods into the cage so they don't fight over it. Still think I should get him out? If I do then I guess will have to reintroduce after I remove the pups? Thanks for the help

Dave
