Health question for boa constrictor.

cedarridge Jun 06, 2011 12:44 PM

I have a male salmon boa constrictor that is about 6.5ft and he has an abscest at the base of his vent (between the vent and tip of tail). It is about the size of a quarter. It is actually touching his vent. He has not eaten since 5-14-11 and the last meal he regurged his meal. I have him for a pet and I am not using him for breeding. I was wondering if anyone has expirience with this problem and what can be done for him.

I talked to a vet and he said I could either lance the abscest or bring the boa in and he would do it. I decided to lance it myself and the boa appears to be on a good road to recovery.
