Who Is Sitting On Eggs?

trevid Jun 06, 2011 05:26 PM

What kind and how many?
Congrats to Varanid on those nice hatchlings down below, a tense and exciting time. I imagine many here have eggs about to hatch. I bred my 1.2 greybands late this year and expect my first clutch any day now. But, i was just wondering of all the posters/readers...Who has eggs? Dave.

My bull snakes (Pituophis catenifer sayi)
Kingsville Texas Red x Stillwater Oklahoma hypo. Bull snakes are known for attitude, but mine are the gentlest guys, and like to watch me when I am in the room.

An interesting little history on the Stillwater Hypo:

still have one clutch cooking and may get another.
I've got 2 eggs that have pipped but no animal out of yet and one that hasn't pipped. But it doesn't look like the possible het traits proved out So I have, so far, a bunch of DHs (for axanthic/hypo and axanthic/white side), and a DH hypo/WS cooking and I may get a straight WS clutch too.

The PHs not proving out was a bummer but it's still a nice clutch and I got some nice feisty baby snakes out of them Now to decide if I want to sell 'em all or hold some back or what. But that'll wait till they've eaten.

Looking forward to buying a better damn incubator for next year, and producing some more neat stuff Hopefully the retics will go this fall too, the female's really packing down food and growing.

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.
1.3 African House Snakes
3.2 reticulated pythons
1 corn snake
4.3 Florida Kings
2 speckled kings
1.2 ball pythons
1 Argentine boa
1 Texas Rat Snake
1 checkered garter snake

You just have to be careful not to really keep them to hot. A friend told me about a populer website that shows how to take care of eggs. Here it is www.petplace.com/reptiles/snake-egg-incubation/page1.aspx

Good luck and if you need any help and such just ask the guys on here they will help out alot

I haven't had any hatch yet. I'm working on tray number 2 like this and will probably have 3 or 4 before it's done. Then come the second clutches, aaah!

Seeing your different clutches all in the same pan, I don't feel so bad about mine. I had to put the bull snake eggs in with the pyro eggs as I only have this one incubator for snake eggs. My other incubator is full of cricket egg tubs. The pyro eggs will hatch about a month sooner than the bull eggs. I put the bull eggs in June 2, and since have removed the lower left hand one, as it was damaged from her laying it on the substrate instead of in her nest like the others later. All the others look fine today. I don't expect the tiny pyros can do much to those big bull eggs. The bull snake eggs were a bit of a surprise unplanned pregnancy! LOL!

Yeah it's not a problem. Sometimes when I see a group start to cut, I'll separate them into a smaller tray, but not necessary. My trepedation would be mixing up babies if some hatch at the same time, but They will all be different enough, where that's not a problem either.

Wow...very impressive...Cant wait to see pics...Dave.

Jlassiter Jun 07, 2011 10:24 PM

I don't know all the exact number of eggs so I will at least post how many clutches of each:

Thayeri - 5 clutches (maybe some seconds on the way)
Mex Mex - 6 clutches (maybe some seconds on the way)
Pyro - 1 clutch (just one good egg, but second clutches coming)
Splendida - 1 small clutch
Holbrooki - 2 clutches
Ruthveni - 1 tiny clutch (many bad ones and a few more left to lay)
Situla - 1 clutch any day now - hope it's good
Knoblochi - 0 clutch (trying for a second though)
MBK - 0 clutch (will try her again next year though)
Loxocemus - 0 clutch (Need to figure these guys out soon...lol)

Good luck everyone...I can't wait to see neonate pics from all of ya'll......

Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

mbrawley Jun 07, 2011 10:55 PM

Nice John. I wish you, and everyone else here, well this year.

As for me, I currently have 2 splendida clutches, 1 mbk clutch, a ws(pos het ghost) x ghost clutch, 1 het PB clutch, 2 hi-white striped cal king clutches, and a few more I'm waiting on to be dropped. Definitely not a "block-buster" season for me but I'm happy just the same. I've been out of the breeding aspect fo so long, I'm just thrilled I have what I have!

Good luck everyone!
