I got eggs from a mini king.

FR Jun 09, 2011 02:44 PM

I am wondering if this is a new species, you know, dwarf king or something. Enjoy

She laid last night. Cool huh, I bet the babies eat pink rats. Don't they start on pink rats?

Does anyone interested in hybrids have, or know where I can get, detailed information on cross breeding kings with corns?

He MUST start those off eating several large rats at a time for optimum growth!!!

What the...is that the extenuata that got placed in Lampropeltis lately? Pretty little thing. My first guess was ground snake (and I was gonna ask how they did) but the head is wrong...

Is that a Banded Sand Snake?. The snout looks a little blunt for it to be a Western Shovel-nosed Snake.

Yea thats it, I kinda put the name of the picture.

Ok, see if I can spell it, chilomeniscus cintis, or something close to that. Its not a shovelnosed which is chionactis or something close to that. Of course, they can half change a dozen times since last I looked.

If they hatch, it will be fun to see what the neonates do.

SHe nested much like a small varanid, that is, covered the eggs. Thanks

Hey if the babies hatch out and eat pinheads can you send some my way.

I will put in a good word for you if you do.

There are some amazing little banded snakes out west. I would say I wish they were more popular, but truth is I like them being ignored. It makes keeping them that much more fun.

FR, was she a gravid w/c, or did you breed them? (Awesome either way, but I gotta say, if you bred them, then I'm really impressed!)

Several years ago while down near (I think)North Beach, by the Salton Sea, Imperial County, Ca, I found 3 or 4 similar looking snakes above ground after a light sprinkle, during a spring night while cruising some asphalt roads. I think I have pics somewhere that I'll have to look for, so I can get some help positively ID'ing them. I seem to remember deciding they were western shovel nose, based on the locality. I didn't take any of them because I was pretty sure they would require an unconventional diet, and simply not knowing for sure, I didn't want to condemn them to to heartache and misery. LOL! I was on vacation at the time and didn't want to take anything 6 hours away from its habitat and then find out I could not provide for it properly.

Any idea what they were based on my desrciption and locality?

Oh yeah! It defenetley looks looks like it could be a DWARF KING SNAKE or similer speciecies but I can't be to sure at this point. If no one knows on these forums go to general questionsrum and just ask. You need to ask the guys on this forum what the most best methods of gestating the EGGS are. Just don't use to much heat and such!. Those pictues are pretty great to FR!. Keep up with the great work and don't give up!. Half of me thinks its a KING SNAKE and the other half thinks it might be a MILK SNAKE but another half thinksit might not be either of those but something else. So let us know what you research is.

slimlv Jun 10, 2011 09:05 PM

When in doubt....go BULLSNAKE and such.

m77mcreedy Jun 10, 2011 09:21 PM

Oh yeah me to!, I looooooooove BULL SNAKES! And GARTERS SNAKES to!. There prety great! I wish there were a BULL SNAKES AND GARTER SNAKES FORuM!. They have KEELED scales and such!. So may be there should be a KEELED SCALES FORUM to!. Or just one giant forum for all of usto go in to at the same time and just talk about what ever when we feel like it!. :}
