Update on Baird's

slitheringdead Jun 10, 2011 10:21 AM

Hi, here are some new pictures of my Baird's rat snake that i got from Jimmy Johnson back in March. Three months and three sheds later, she's now at 64g (she was 30g when i first got her). In terms of coloration and pattern, i don't think she changed much. She's still a cutie though.

VERY nice bairdi indeed!

I have those very same binder clips for a few of the enclosures here too. They work awesome!..

Yeah, i cut a little hole on the side for her to get in and she loves it inside.

Very nice. I a have an 08 gravid female from a pair that I got from Jimmy. They turn out looking really cool. I'll post some picks when I get a chance. I just got a new pc.

Did you ask Jimmy if your snake was one of Rossie's pups. He used to post lots of pictures of her.
What I like about them is there ia not a big Baird's morph market. What you see are wild types.
Great photo's and a nice story to go with them. Thank you and Mr. Johnson, the breeder.

I don't know who the mom is, but Sam is the dad.

Rosie is the mom

I'd be happy if she looked like either of her parents =)

One interesting behavior that i noticed is that she doesn't burrow into the aspen on the hot side after a meal. She stays on top of the aspen. I keep the hot side between 81-85 for all my snakes. My king and corn will burrow, but i've never seen her do it. She must prefer cooler temps even after a meal.

mine usually stay out in the open or under their water bowls, which are on the cool side of their enclosures.

Yeah, they must prefer cooler temps then. She doesn't hang out in the open like my other 2 rat snakes though. Hopefully that will change as she gets older.

It should...Mine like to be out and about. I've given them branches and they 'perch" quite often
