OT: Good googly moogly!

Of topic, but I am the one who posted the wallpaper-sized image of a House Centipede several months ago. Hilariously, a large number of posters here (many of whom own many, probably large, possibly even venomous snakes) got freaked out by it.

Their panic was understandable, however, given what a House Centipede looks like running across the floor at twilight towards your bare feet.

Well, this tops that:

My reaction: AAAAAHHHH! AAAAAAAAAAHHHH! OMGWTFBBQ.

I'm actually a fan of spiders and creepy crawlies, but WTH? I assume they are grouping together for heat?

I Loved your House Centipede pic, thanks for posting it again. I've tried to take pics of them a few times but never got one so good as yours. They are so fast so hard to get to sit still long enough for a good pic.

The video is AWESOME. A Daddy Longlegs is your typical Cellar Spider which are true spiders. What is in your video look like Harvestmen, they are not true spiders. But they are super cool. My dad taught me at a very early age how to properly pick them up and handle them so as not to break off their very delicate legs. That experience caused me to not grow up afraid of them, or spiders or other creapy crawlies

At work peole know to come get me when there is a spider. I capture them (if left there they'd get squished by one of the spider haters) bring them home, feed them some crickets, then release them.

Picture 1 is an awesome Jumping Spider "Jack" who I rescued from work. There is also a link to a video of Jack.

Picture 2 is a Tobacco Horn Worm I caught in the Woods

Picture 3 is a Wolf Spider "Charlotte" who I rescued from work.

Keep up the great work with your photos and videos and thanks so much for sharing!!!!

I'd love to take credit for the House Centipede pic, but it actually belongs to a friend of mine who is an Entomologist at the University. Since we are trading "creepy" pictures, here is a good one to share that is mine (compressed so it is easier to see):

Female Wolfspider out on the prairie, carrying her young. I submitted this in some photo contests, but never got anything. Understandable since people tend to get a little freaked out by millions of tiny spiders on a giant one :D

Here is a gallery of pictures I took while TAing Herpetology at UNL: Herpetology Gallery

Those are really awesome photos! I especially liked the tiny ringneck baby, how cute!!!! The wolf spider with babies is really neat too.

I could deal with the Daddy Long Legs and the Spiderpillar, but that is just downright terrifying. I'll take my venomous snakes before I trust THAT mass of horror anywhere near me.
