Busted nose, please help

Mors Sep 29, 2003 09:23 PM

Is there anything I can/should do?

In his hunger, Mors got a little excited. My roommate past by Mors’ enclosure while I was setting up to feed him (the odour of mouse was in the air, he new it and was ready for it)… he saw the movement and striked… hit nothing but glass. I check him out after and his nose is dented in... He still ate but his nose didn’t come back.

Sorry, I have not yet gotten a camera.

But to describe it…
His top left jaw seems pushed in…
From the front, when he closes his mouth there is a little overlap of the right side (normal) but the left side is flush to the bottom jaw. From the top, there seems to be an outward bump on his left. It almost seems like he broke a bone in the top left jaw…or dislocated (I am not certain of the skeletal structure of a snake’s head).

Anyways.. thanks for any help.

well man I am really sorry to hear that. I would have to say the snake struck pretty hard in order to do that kind of damage. I have seen snakes that struck glass quite a bit but never had that kind of injury from it. Just like the other dude said I would try to get it to a vet. Be sure it is a vet that specializes in herps or most likely they wont know a whole lot about what they are talking about.
