Going to be a long birthing season.....

rainbowsrus Jun 15, 2011 11:51 AM

Getting close to wrapping things up with my BRB mating season. Spotted Oyster having a huge ovulation Tuesday (already shrunk back down one day later).....

She should have her POS at the end of June and babies due about October 25th.

I also noticed two girls being bred? Wendy was being seriously courted by Yang...

He had some serious spurring going on.....

Also noted Savannah being bred by Phoenix.....

Both of these girls will easily go into November, going to be a looooonnnnnngggggggg birthing season. First litter is due late July and will still be having babies 3-4 months later. And Savannah will be one of my latest litters of the year.

Having it long and spread out must be much nicer than if you had like 15 litters on one month!!! You'd be so busy then I don't think you'd have a chance to sleep!!!

Looking good as always Dave!!!!

Like you said, is good to have it spread out but I'll have to wait for SC-RH until the very end!! And so will everyone else!!

Looks like you'll have a similar time line as I did last season. Had my first litter late July, and the last one in January! Though, I somehow think you will have a LOT more babies than me!!

Looking forward to see what killer babies will appear at the Colling home.

Interesting Dave. How do you span out your breedings like that? Do you have different banks of cages that you cool at different intervals?

rainbowsrus Jun 18, 2011 05:24 PM

Well, there are different banks of cages with different heating methods but I don't try to make them different. Each pair of cages has it's own thermostat channel so vertical differences should be compensated for. That single vertical cage stack with Savannah has about a 3 month range in due dates.
