keith_ecko Sep 29, 2003 10:20 PM

and how long exactly does it take for them to be gutloaded. Also what is the best way to house crix. My girlfriend is having a cow because I accidentally let one jump out of the rubbermaid container I have them in right now...Any suggestions???? Let me know..I am going to try to have everything in place by THURSDAY..I got my POWERSUN MVB coming hopefully Wednesday!!!!

By the way, THOR, had a good first day I think...He ate about 8 crix and I bathed him twice and he drank off my finger..Does that sound okay for his first day home from the show???

I personally feed them the same salad I feed my beardies. I usually feed the crix 12 hours before feeding them to the dragons.

Hope that helps a little.

I feed my crix the left-over greens from my dragons, occassionally dusted w/ the same supplements I use ON the crix. I also put in a slice of potato or fruit, & a moistened sponge for their drink. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe 24 hrs. allows them to be well-gut-loaded.

Sounds like Thor is doing great!

gutloaded.

The sponge with water I think is the way to go and dried food

She'll adapt to the crickets, once the baby snuggles up to her one night and goes to sleep in her hair it won't matter if there are crickets running lose in the shower stall

Hands down we love the gutload that is custom made by www.cricketfood.com , the crickets eat it so well, not messy and smelly and it is made with the dragons nutritional needs in mind by someone that has been raising dragons longer than most people on this forum have been on earth. We have used nothing but it for over a year now.

To handle escapes, get a cricket wire mesh keeper from Armstrong crickets and just leave it behind something on the flood with food in it, they climb in and can't get out so your not chasing crickets all over the place. Toss them out when you catch them, you never know what they have been eating!

TO keep them, we use a tub or cricket keeper tub with a screen top and a cricket scoop to get them out and feed to the dragons.

this is what we feed our crickets...

and this is what we keep our crickets in, we baught this at petsmart i think, when the crickets go in the black tubes you can take the tubes out and decide how many crickets you want to serve your beardy, we find it very easy and the crickets never get loose...

this is just a picture to show you how it works..

and this is our little way of organizing everything..spray bottle, flukers cricket quencher, flukers criket feed, and the cricket dust..

sorry here it is...

there has been some speculation here that the flukers cricket water actually contributes to cricket death. personally, i used to use it and now use water pillows and they seem to last longer, but a lot of other things changed so i cant say for sure that the cricket water was the problem.

plus, not to get this started again, but a lot of people here have major issues with purchasing from flukers (you can do a search to find out why )
