Dad allegedly threatens to cut head off, burn kids' snake

Sandusky
Police charged a man with disorderly conduct after he allegedly threatened to burn his children's pet snake and cut off its head.

Penny Erkman called police to say that she and her husband, Frank Erkman, got into an argument Tuesday evening at their Monroe Street home and he held the family's pet snake over the stove. He then grabbed a knife and told the children he would cut off the snake's head. He never threatened to hurt her or the children, she said -- only the snake.

Frank Erkman told officers he yelled at his wife but hadn't threatened to harm the snake. The snake was in its cage when officers arrived and appeared to be fine. Officers issued Erkman a summons and left the residence.
