more baby Pines are hatching!

nodaksnakelover Jun 18, 2011 08:29 AM

I'm excited! My large clutch of 11 is now hatching. And I like what I'm seeing! I really love this time of year! I never get over the excitement of baby pines hatching! Again, these are pure Meltzer line babies that I'm told are New Jersey Ocean Co. Northern Pines.

Here's a couple of this young male as of today. This was his first year breeding.

So far, none of his babies are so little patterned as he is. Unsure at this point if that lack of pattern is just a random thing or a specific genetic trait. Often when I'm looking at babies, the ones with less black pattern tend to always be males and the darker ones are usually always female. Just something I've noticed.

Thanks, that is a superb northern!

Thats a nice pair you have. The male has a nice looking reduced pattern or whatever you would call it.
