trip to Bimini and boas

prprjp Jun 18, 2011 10:38 AM

I took a trip to Bimini to help a friend conduct research on Bimini boas earlier this year and had a few great finds. E.s.fosteri have become scarce for unknown reasons but we managed to find a few. Also found several Cubophis (Alsophis) vudii vudii racers (extremely abundant) and a Tropidophis canus curtis.

Hopefully the pics will work. Wish I had more time to get to the islands.
Ryan

Trope

Racer (w hermit crabs, found under a piece of board)

Yearling fosteri, found right next to the coastline

Adult fosteri, found basking under a palm tree

Very cool! I know nothing about those species... does the one in the top picture always have the black tail or is that an unusual specimen?
