Just wondering what day you all usually cut eggs on? Got some from a pastel het pied X het pied that I snipped today (Day 52). I usually wait till 55, but I just couldn't wait any longer.

I know most people will say "after the first one pips" which is good advice since I've cut at day 52 also and had nice looking snakes with a pretty good size yolk still to absorb. They stayed in the egg 3-4 days after cutting to finish absorbing. So what were the results and how did the yolk look? Chris Hall...... I have a patel to bee clutch that will be at day 52 tomorrow.......it sure is tempting........

Lots of yolk. Eggs look good. One pastel pied for sure, and another one that looks promising.

Day 56 and after at least one or two have pipped. The reason you see "lots of yolk" is because it's too early...that yolk would be absorbed if you wait 'til day 55 or 56.

if there was yolk it was too soon. you should wait until one pips. i hope thet all survive for you. i know someone who cut too early and the babies died. as far as your pastel pied you might have to wait since the color is the last to set. after it comes out of the egg and sheds for the first time you might just have a reg pied and not a pastel pied. i hope you do get the pastel pied. post pics when you can. next time wait a few days longer it is worth it.

I hatched out some pastel pieds last year. I know what they look like in the egg.

I also have eggs at day 52 that I can't wait to find out

But I am wainting another 2-3 days at least. That's the only thing I can do, even if I would like to cut them and see. Just some patience is needed.

Damn, I have already waited 52 days for that clutch, hope I can wait a little more and not get disapointed.
