Eastern Hognose from ANF

ShadyLady Jun 20, 2011 02:45 PM

Hi! I found this little fella Saturday 6/18 about 4:30 in the afternoon on a cruise thru Apalachicola Nat. Forest. It was 96 degrees and he was the only snake I saw out. First time I've seen one of these guys, ever! I thought it was a racer, jumped out and ran up and he was still there! Then I saw the stripes and thought what in the world is this? Then he fanned his neck out for me - a hognose! And a really pretty little one at that! Look how he curls his tail.

Thats a very pretty eastern. Love the color and pattern. Found this big girl yesterday in Matagorda Co. in Texas. My first hog of the year.

Wow! That orange and black on the neck are really cool. Love that second pic.
