Incubation question......

basssnatcher34 Jun 22, 2011 07:57 PM

I have a clutch of ball python eggs due to hatch in about 3 weeks. Here in the last week or so I have noticed an increase in the tempatures inside the container with the eggs. It has been 88-91 throughout incubation until here recently. Temps have been from 88-95. No change in how I moniter the eggs. The humidity is good, just a sudden increase in temps. Anyone have an explaination?

Yes,
When the babies start moving around they create their own heat...it is normal to see a rise in temp..and if I had to guess the eggs are starting to cave in a bit?

Eggs are just now starting to dimple a little. I see movement inside the eggs so I know they are still alive at this point.

I use a wine fridge size incubator and I use a Herpstat ND Thermostat. The Thermostat records my highs and lows and I am never above what I set it to by .3 degrees. I set my inside temps to 89.00 degrees. 95.00 is way to high and I hope you will be ok. If the outside temp in your room is hot, it is hard to maintain the inside temps. I would be careful and try and keep your inside incubator temps steady.

Good Luck,
Bill

Everything seems to be doing ok. I still see movement in the eggs. They were not at 95 very long. Since I have been having this problem, I have been checking them every couple hours throughout the night. Yes wakeing up all hours of the night to check on them....lol
