Rattkesnake Republic on AP

http://www.taylordailypress.net/news/article_1baa6106-9b96-11e0-8ac8-001cc4c002e0.html

Here is AP's own description of this show - "In the heart of Texas is a little known world where men hunt and capture the continent's most dangerous predator. The Rattlesnake Republic follows the lives and adventures of four teams of brave rattlesnake wranglers as they battle to make a living."

Brave!? Wranglers!? Vile. Well, I guess the @%!* who run Animal Planet felt that were being a little *too* Animal Rights-ish... Now they give people a program like this, also aimed at villianizing snakes, and making the people who work with/handle them look like morons (Not that the guys in THIS show are anything BUT morons - sensationalizing Rattlesnake Roundups of all things.

I guess it gets them ratings and as long as that is the case, thats all they care about. I'll be doing my part to tell people what garbage anything that Animal *rights* Planet offers is, and exactly why it is.

I can think of a handful of large predatory mammals that beat out rattlesnakes on this one not to mention gators. Grizzlies immediately come to mind as do polar bears. Having grown up in Tx. I'll take catching a rattler over a badger any day. these people are just funny or more like it plain sad.
Sooner or later they are going to make an extreme reality show about washing windows or doing dishes.

I for one want to see a reality show about producing a reality show.

I would think the most dangerous predator would be man.

One interesting thing to note is that by airing a show such as this, Animal Planet maybe in violation of their own ethics policies!

I would have a hard time imagaining that the harvesting practices used in"Rattlesnake Republic" would all be nice and legal for example...

Quite a few laws and regulations are violated during these activities. Most participants do not have the proper TP&W permits (I've checked). Cruelty laws are violated, FDA Regulations in regards to food (rattlesnakes soaked in gasoline being fed to the public), and gasoline leaching into are water table is a violating TCEQ Regulations.

I watched about 2 minutes of it and turned it off. There was a combined IQ of 10 for all the participants.
