I bought it as a hypo Brooksi.

Interesting, I see the hypo, but there's seems to be something else going on there. Good luck with them!

I'm interested in your thoughts on this. Not an expert so curious what other people think. What do you think is in there ?
Greets,
Tanguy
Well, unless the parental lineage is known for absolute certain, there really isn't any way of knowing exactly what percentages of the two suspected subspecies this snake actually has, but in my opinion it seems to display very strong goini characteristics. I think it is a hypo floridana x goini of whatever percentage it may be. The much wider cross-bars indicate this,, as do the plainer sides and are very typical of floridana x goini crosses. Keep in mind though that these crosses can also be EXTREMELY variable too. So for example when any two of the exact same cross are compared to one another, even from the very same clutch, the offspring can also have very different outward looking phenotypes(visual looks).
Your second photo is a very typical floridana phenotype that doesn't seem to outwardly be crossed with anything.
Anyway, certainly not knocking you or the snake, but this is just my opinion of what I see when I look at it since you were asking for honest opinions on what it likely is.

"a snake in the grass is a GOOD thing"
Thx,
appriciate the input.
I thought the same thing too, Doug. Definitely looks Goini-ish. LOL! Gorgeous snakes though...especially the Brooksi.
How could that have happened??? I wonder how many people have bought the same kind of snake as something else.

It happened basically because of these unfortuate things:
Selfishness.
Laziness to stick to scientific facts about what kingsnakes and subspecies truly are.
Lack of caring for others.
Boredom.
All in a nutshell.

Genesis 1:1
All four of the reasons seem to fit the profile perfect. Atleast there is some people out there that still stick to the way things should be.

You are so right!
There are more people, than regulars on this forum would think, that actually CARE about snakes, not just using the term as a flashy verb to make their agenda " constructive and productive " so to say. They just choose to sit back, laugh, and not waste their time with useless debates that are commonly seen on forums such as these.

I agree with both other comments, I have 3 hypo floridian and none of my have that look.
The top one looks like Goini X Brooksi... I breed those myself. Definitely cannot be a Hypo Brooks. Seeing it is a most likely a cross even the Hypo part could not be certain if Goini is in the mix... that cross yields extreme versions that make it hard to pin down the Hypo part...
I do love that snake though...however when you breed them you are most likely to get snakes more resembling Brooksi... even that is a guess
cool snake
