very nice classic sinaloae. what's her RBR count?

KcTrader Jun 29, 2011 08:34 AM

She has 11 white bands not including the one right behind the head and the 3 after the vent.

Jimmy, the "RBR" refer to the red body rings. In kingsnakes the white rings/bands are counted, and in milks the red rings are counted, but only from the first one behind the head to the vent, or the last one that terminates just forward of the cloaca. This is because so many milks have black suffusion in the rings past the vent. ~per Kenneth Williams (Systematics).

That certainly IS a very nice "classic" Sinaloan you have!..

Love the thin, more straight up and down outer black triad rings that are indicative of true sinaloae.

Not Quite, she is more of a light red to a dark pink, Half the hue of a normal, atleast what normals I have seen. My male and other female are a brick red color and the one I am referring to is like half that red.......I will take pics after she lays, alone and then with both male and female to show color difference.

very nice. sinaloae with low red body ring counts is my main area of interest.

right now i've got two adult males with 12 RBR, but most of my females have either 13 or 14. luckily, last year, i hatched out two females with 11 RBR counts - so in a couple of years i may acutally produce the highly coveted 10 ringer.

fingers crossed.

I actually just checked both my females and they are 11 RBR's. They are about 15yrs old and from Trumbower originally. My male has 13 but has like 5 broken bands. He is an original Applegate from 2002, if my memory serves me correctly. I acquired him second hand so it's really hard to tell. The females I acquired from Dennis Thomas as retired breeders and he originally got his from Trumbower, if my memory serves me correctly.

That's a pretty cool little project, on reduced RBR's. Post some pics, I would like to check them out.

here's one of the 11 RBR females i produced last year:

number two 11 RBR is already huge. i mean look at her in my hand, she's only 9 months old and i'm not a little guy, i'm 6'7.

she may actually be able to breed next season:

they're both from my bell line aberrant female, who has a 15 RBR count, and who's about to drop any day:

additionally, i'm hopeful that there will be some low counts from this trio:

female 1 (about to drop any day):

female 2 (just dropped 12 good eggs):

and my seib line vp male - although he's opaque right now, he's easily my favorite snake and was produced by john emberton:

and while technically not a sinaloan, i went over and picked up this 12 RBR count thin-band nelsoni directly from robert seib earlier this year:

and it'll be interesting to see what he produces with this pair; both are moody/llemke line from bhb:

additionally, i have several other adults and juvies - none of which are directly related, so i have a pretty diverse genepool to work with.

here's an applegate female produced by nathan wells - she's kind a picky eater, so i'll probably wait another year before i breed her:

Very Nice Brian!!! That sure is a nice diverse collection of Sinaloans and nelsons. The first one you posted is definately my favorite out of all of them. Really nice equal black/white/black with no dorsal flaring on the black. Really nice specimen!!! I really like the double yellow albino nelsons, but you really can't tell when they are hatchlings how they are going to turn out. Is that one you posted from Bell, is it from their "clown" line?

thanks jimmy. she was the first hatchling that i produced since '98 - i was amazed she made it actually. for some reason, only her egg dried out towards the end of incubation. she emerged about a week earlier than the rest of her clutch-mates and was so small she could only get down pinky heads. of course, now she wolfs down large fuzzies just like her siblings.

i wish i had taken progression pics of the yellow albino nelsons. she started out so dull and orange - especially compared to her sister, who is super red. she's also produced 11 eggs this season. five for her first clutch and six for her second.

and yes, that's a clown line sinaloan. i kept one of her sons from last season to hopefully breed back to her next year.

funny enough, she has a 15 RBR count - the generic male i bred with her has a 14 RBR count and they ended up producing three 11, two 12, and one 13 RBR counted neonates. i gave one of the 11 counts to john emberton at the east bay vivarium - it'll be interesting to see what he ends up producing with her.
