recent annulata pics

mikefedzen Jul 01, 2011 02:09 AM

my annulata collection is now up to 6.7, unfortunately all of the males are more than a little scared to make a move so I'll have to wait until next year to even start most of the projects I have in mind.
here's my little 09' albino male in shed, seems like he always is, just keeps growing... he was recently bumped up to 3 small fuzzies per meal.

here he is right after his shed on June 25th.

one of his future mates, this 2010 het albino female is growing nicely as well, she's up to 4 or 5 large pinkies per meal and her bands are starting to turn yellow.

here's a sub-adult female I recently got from Mitch, she's probably the least friendly out of the group lol.

Dan Eby decided to part with this stunning reverse trio of 2008 annulata, and I was lucky enough to add them to my collection.

albino female in shed

here she is chowing down getting ready for the 2012 season!

the 2 het albino males are some lookers as well, and never refuse food.

this male has some very nice orange bands that some may call "apricot".

Thanks Gerard,
I've had a couple bigger names in the reptile industry tell me I was wasting my time with the albinos because it's just another tri-color and they all look the same.
I like mexican milks though, and eventually I'd like to create some Albino X Spotteds.

"I've had a couple bigger names in the reptile industry tell me I was wasting my time with the albinos because it's just another tri-color and they all look the same"

I am guessing that these would be the same people that wouldn't think a locality-specific morph(such as those are) are FAR MORE unique and interesting than some four-way generic man-made cross is that was produced from their basement. Many times it isn't always about what something happens to "look" like that makes it extremely special and unique, but rather what it actually "IS", and where it originated from that makes them very special.

Those are very cool in my opinion!, and so are your normal phenotypes..

That's funny you mention that Mike, Doug and I were just discussing the same thing about my knoblochi collection. When I was searching for available lines, and patterns, there were a ton of people saying "Why?" have 11 or 12 knob females the market isn't there and your wasting your time.

This was always my reply:

1. I don't want the lines Muddied up anymore than what they are. And while there is still time to save them.

2. They are way under rated, so many positives for them to sell.( Larger hatchlings,Variable colors and patterns, more willing to take pink mice as neonates, etc...)

3. I like them!!!! and there is not very many working with the species, anymore.

and I can always put in, This is a hobby for me not my job, I don't have too mass produce what the masses want just to pay bills.

Hey Jimmy,
I've got 4 spotteds, 2 albinos, 3 normal het albinos, 1 tangerine, 2 pinstripes and 2 normals and honestly no two look alike. I guess my original 6.7 headcount was wrong lol, looks like I have 6.8.

I never knew there were so many different morphs for annulata until recently, while researching older posts. You have a great majority of them, but I have found a few more, like this post by Susan Hardy forums.kingsnake.com/viewarch.php?id=1473594,1474611&key=2008
Which shows a Trenney Stripe, and then there is her Loco line too... Just think of all the possibilities just for one ssp. Amazing, just amazing!!!!

I wish I could find the post Susan did on the Loco aberrant line, I have the picture but don't want to post it with out her permission.

Hey Jimmy,
Yeah I'm wondering when some of those are gonna pop up for sale. Shannon's friend will probably produce his crazy annulata before Susan, who knows though.

Thanks Cole,
I have another handful of other good looking annulata I didn't post there. They all look and act differently, they're a good species to work with.
