Litter #3 - Long Red Tails.......

lrdj Jul 02, 2011 08:28 PM

but not the typical red tail boas.

Early morning (7/2/11) we were blessed with a beautiful litter of Costa Rican boas. In 2008 the litter was only 7 neonates, no pills and this year her litter consisted of 5 neonates and 1 pill.

This pair came originally as part of the first group to enter the United States on CITES. Acquired through Kevin Barnett of Ectothermics in 2005. They are descendants from Robert Meidinger, managing director of Zoocriadero World Snakes in Grecia, Alejeula, Costa Rica. Robert's breeding stock consists of WC specimens from Liberia, located in the North-central to Northwest regions of Costa Rica.

Very nice boas. It looks like one of those babies is trying to pull off a circle back ladder tail. Can't see moms tail in the pic but she looks real similar. Good luck with these guys in the future, they are awesome!

Orlando,

Great looking babies from beautiful parents and I bet the young ones will be even better then the parents. I also want to say I saw your post on the silver back breeding and I am so glad you got some babies from the female Bolivian. Her genes deserve to be past on.

Best,

John Manser

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Pretty sad that this locality is underrated.
