Finally....I have a pipper!

a153fish Jul 03, 2011 12:31 AM

Saw this guy poking his head out so i moved the clutch to it's own tray. I can't wait to see what they look like. These were from a normal Brooks female to a Sulfur het for lavender male.

hey jorge,

apparently it's a variant of peep and was coined during the late 17th century.

interesting and it makes sense.

I'm pretty sure "pipping" eggs had a beginning from chicken eggs hatching.

Finally....I have a pipper!
How fervently I wish I could say the same! Day 70 for my pyros, the stubborn little buggers! (Being incubated at slightly cooler than 82 F, so longer incubation time is to be expected )

Congrats on your little pippers!

That one had a crease from early on and it just made me nervous about if the baby would be able to cut thru, since id dried kinda like a hard edge. I took a razor and just removed enough so that I feel comfortable that the snake can escape. I looked in there and saw egg yolk, but I didn't cut any veins so I think he's fine. There' is a second pipper since then, but neither is wanting to explore the world yet.

I know! You noticed how it's all in many stages of waiting! Waiting to see if they mate, waiting to see when they lay and if the eggs are good, waiting for them to pip, waiting for the suckers to come out, waiting for their first shed, waiting to see if they'll eat, and waiting to sex them, and start all over. It's all a big waiting game!!! Ahhhh....but I love it! These are nothing extremely fancy and yet I feel like a little kid waiting to see what they look like, lol.

Yeah, I'll second that, but I'm not big on being there up close. I like the old fashion way when men sat in the waiting room handing out cigars, lol!
